I’m having problems with uploading files with the file manager to folders that created with the filemanager.
This only occurs when uploading to folders that I created with the filemanager.
When I create a folder with my ftp client, then there are no problems.

In both cases the permissions on the folders are 777, but they do both have different owners.
I think that is the problem, but I don’t know the way to solve it, because I don’t have any PHP knowledge.

Would this be considered a bug or a webhost compatibility issue?

Is there a way to hack MODx and make it work with CHOWN when it creates the folders?

    Thanx in advance!!

This is how ur webserver runs. usually Apache runs as "nobody" or "www" something, and when u create folder within MODx with filemanager, it uses the user of the webserver.

So if its a shared host, u need to ask ur host to reset permissions on the folders. OR if u can use SSH u can do it yourself (this SSH is i m not too sure about though)

        Thanx for your reply.
I am aware about this, but is there a way to pass "chown" when modx creates the folder?
I think so, because it chmods it to..

Could someone please tell me how to do this?

Most likely the server configuration will not allow chown if the user isn’t the owner. You’ll need to use the file manager of your domain control panel.

Thanx for your replies, the webhosting company tells me that the problem has to do with them having PHP safe-mode on.

I want to be able to make folders and upload to them with the modx file management..

Is there no other solution then changing webhosts?
