I am using MAMP to work and test potential sites out in modx. I will be converting at least three into modx here in the near future.

I am wondering if it is a good idea to use MAMP to develop locally then upload, has any one had issues with this, is there a best practice or proven method to do this?

Also, working locally I am gettin CSF errors constantly where I have to go in and change the "Validate_referer" back to 0.

    thanks in advance. smiley

I have been using MAMP for years with no problems. The closest I’ve ever come to trouble is an occasional database version incompatibility, which is easily enough dealt with.

Be sure the character encoding / collation stuff is the same on the remote site. Pretty much everything you need to know is here: http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Moving_Site_To_Another_Location.

It’s not a bad idea to turn Friendly URLs off and rename .htaccess to ht.access during the first move to a remote site. Turn on the FURLs and put back .htaccess after the site is working and tested.
