ok guys, thanks for putting up with me on my email question, going for a second record here undecided actually it should be a one post deal. I think I am ready to send this bad boy to the host’s server,I just want to see if someone could answer a couple doubts I have and take a look at both my .htaccess files...I have already gone through these two resources

    http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/MODx096/Friendly+URL+Solutions

    http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Moving_Site_To_Another_Location

note I am not enclosing anything in tags from the forum’s editor, I didn’t want the links to appear line THIS giving you regulars a chance to see whether or not it was even worth following if you are already well familiar with those pages, as I assume you are.

ok here is my root .htaccess I suppose I should’ve already found out which mysql and php version they are using, but I think I know what to do if it’s different than my localhost. could you look at it and see if there is anything I should do? there is one line with the extra character of N in it Rewrite rule...but the two sites above listed the edit on that different, not sure if I should include it...also
    # For full documentation and other suggested options, please see

    # including for unexpected logouts in multi-server/cloud environments
    # and especially for the first three commented out rules

    #php_flag register_globals Off
    #AddDefaultCharset utf-8
    #php_value date.timezone Europe/Moscow

    Options +FollowSymlinks
    RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /clientsite <----do I put .com for the remote server?

    # Fix Apache internal dummy connections from breaking [(site_url)] cache
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^.*internal\ dummy\ connection.*$ [NC]
    RewriteRule .* - [F,L]

    # Rewrite domain.com -> www.domain.com -- used with SEO Strict URLs plugin <------do I need to remove the comment out tags and put the actual
    #RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} . domain?
    #RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.example\.com [NC]
    #RewriteRule (.*) http://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L]

    # Exclude /assets and /manager directories from rewrite rules
    RewriteRule ^(manager|assets) - [L]

    # For Friendly URLs
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA,NC]

    # Reduce server overhead by enabling output compression if supported.
    php_flag zlib.output_compression On
    php_value zlib.output_compression_level 5

AND HERE IS THE MANAGER .htaccess
    # For unexpected logouts in multi-server/cloud environments see:

    RewriteEngine Off

    <IfModule mod_security.c>
    # Turn the filtering engine Off
    SecFilterEngine Off
    </IfModule>

the only other doubts I have is when following the friendly url instructions for seo, when I deleted any prefix, and left .html as suffix, only error pages appeared, so I left the prefix as index.php?q= and the suffix .php any other suffix with this prefix breaks, this seems to be the only way I can have at least a half decent chance at getting indexed...I followed the instructions, but I may be so excited by this experience I probably overlooked something critical, and if has to do with dealing with the host, well then I keep this solution in place.

one last thing, since I am on a winmachine, when I deploy the site, I have to set permissions to 777, on linux fine, but does this mean simply removing the read only in the file properties? I use command line on openSuSE all the time, but this machine is strictly for adobe purposes.

this is my first CMS deployment, after pulling my hair out on joomla! breaking my templates, I was just creating templates and passing them off to others.

are there any other resources I should know about regarding getting this site airborn...it’s has been so pain free I guess I am waiting for joomla! like disaster server side to happen. one thing that has me worried is that after creating the modx db in phpMyAdmin and a new user, the modx installation wouldn’t accept the user for populating the database only root, I hope that since I will now be exporting the db and the install on the remote server is an upgrade, it won’t ask to do this. if anyone could enlighten me this would be great.
