    Hey,

I’ve been making a site on my dev server with recent versions of both PHP and MySQL, and it’s been great.

It’s coming up soon to a point where I’m migrating to my client’s server. According to the MODx Requirements, the version of PHP his hosting provides should be fine, but the MySQL is on 4.0.12. (Requirement, apparently: 4.1.20).

Anybody know if this should be an issue at all?

When it comes to it, I could use 0.9.6.3 or 1.0.2 (They both work with my site). Would one be better for this situation?

    Many thanks!

    Ben.

I’d walk away from any hosting using MySQL 4.0.12.
If they are too lazy to update free software that old you’re opening up a potential whole new world of pain.

Oh, I would if I could! There are various reasons for sticking with this host unfortunately.

If MODx won’t work with it, I’m sure I could persuade them to move host, but I think they’d really rather not have to.

I don’t imagine MODx 1.0.2 is any more likely to support that version of MySQL, but it may not matter which version of MODx.
You could try a test install of 0.9.6.3, if it works okay you could try a MODx upgrade.
If you’re building anything requiring extra functions/features using snippets/plug-ins/modules from the repository, they may not work with that MySQL version.
