modx changes chinese character to ??

    I have to make a chinese website for a client.
    But when i typ chinese characters in the title field, modx changes it into questionmarks.

    What is the problem?

    DB Settings:

    MySQL characterset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)


    TABLE Settings:
    latin1_swedish_ci
    (this was set by modx?)

    modx_charset: UTF-8

      MODx creates the tables with the character set/collation of the database container you created for the application before installing MODx. It is critical that you select a utf8 collation when creating the database as the default for MySQL is latin1_swedish_ci. If you are looking at phpmyadmin, it defaults to a connection character set of utf8_unicode_ci but this has no affect on the database you created.
