Adding rows to the modx database table modx_site_content not reflecting on site

Hi, am newbee to modX, and was trying to figure out if I can use it for my site.

ok, I added a couple of new resource manually using the manager control panel. Then I checked what changes were made in the database. A new row was added to the modx_site_content table, and the resource page shows up fine on the website. All fine.

Now this is where I am stuck : I added a new row into the same table (directly in the database, not going thro modx manager control panel) assuming that the new entry should show up on the site. But it doesnt. Could someone explain me why please? And what should I do if I intend to work directly on the database, and not through the modX control panel? I took care to enter values similar to the ones that were filled in when I used the manager.

Try logging in to the MODx Manager and clearing the Cache.

It should work,
Does the document appear in the manager?

Have a look at the fields(published,pagetitle) in this post and make sure they are correct on your end.
