hello, very much a modx noob.

i flipped the switch (so to say) for my site to use chinese (simplified). i tried all the different simplified language options and all i get is a site full of ?-?-?-?-?--?-’s. including the dashes because the forum software auto converted my list of question marks into question faces...even though i actually was trying to illustrate a list of "formatted" question marks. undecided

    this is the error message:
Warning: htmlentities() [function.htmlentities]: charset `hz-gb-2312’ not supported, assuming iso-8859-1 in /srv/http/polishedenglish.cloudcrowd.com/modx-1.0.2/assets/plugins/managermanager/functions/utilities.inc.php on line 80

soo...it’s not supported but it’s an option? would love a little direction here.

    thanks in advance!

      You should use UTF-8

      - in your html
      - convert your db to Collation utf8_general_ci

I use Chinese characters with this settings and it works

by that, you mean in "tools --> configuration -->character encoding", right?

i currently have that set to Unicode (UTF-8)-utf-8 (per your suggestion) and i’m still getting all the question marks. i don’t see any other locations where i would modify this.

is there another location you’re tlaking about?
