I have a client who has a database of a couple of hundred items, all with the same fields. The info is in a MySQL database and in the context of MODx I think that each item ought to be represented by a document, with the characteristics stored in various TVs. This way, it should be easy to edit any of the entries going forward, without needing a specialized database interface.

So far so good. The problem is the "couple of hundred" part. Does anyone know of any tools, tricks, etc. that I can use to create these documents automatically, with the TVs assigned to each document getting their values from the external database? This would only need to be done once - once the documents are set up with the correct values, there will be no need to deal with the original database.

Any recommendations, ideas, how-to’s would be appreciated!

Worked up a snippet that loops through the database and uses the docmanager api to create the docs on the fly. Haven’t figured out how to set the value of a single-select list, though.
