thanks sharkbait...
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /modx
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]
the above example shows modx installed into another folder - my site is in the root folder?

Hi,
You just need to change this line:
RewriteBase /modx
to
RewriteBase
Aaron, Shouldn’t that be RewriteBase / ?

On a Windows Server running IIS just having the following works fine.
RewriteBase
However David is correct on Linux you may need to add / to the end of the line.
Thanks Aaron
thanks guys,
i have gone thru the guide and still doesn’t delete the ’index.php?q’
I have tested that the htaccess file and it’s being read by the server.
not sure what to try now.
thanks again for your time.

Did you clear the site cache and your browser cache?
