no real help there. more or less. but unfortunately our company decided to go with a SaaS CMS solution. which in the long run is better for us, booo! i would of loved for my company to pay for my training so that i could learn MODx for my own benefit.

but after learning more and more about MODx i’m definitely going to learn this CMS. I’m going to hit up the forums and look on how to get started. Thanks everyone for their help and comments.

The suggestion there about picking a CMS first, then looking for consultants is good advice if you have someone at all competent to evaluate CMS products, IMO.

Too many companies hire consultants who push them into something that doesn’t work out for them in the long run (e.g. asp, java, cfmx) and they end up having to start over a year or two later.

SaaS CMS? A hosted service? Yuck. You will be forever dependent on the service and never own your site code. Oh well undecided

I agree with not letting the consultant push a system, but on the other hand it makes sense that a pro would recommend something that they are familiar with (which in this story is a little dubious since there is no LDAP for MODx..yet). Choosing the right setup for the job it a big task.

I like that no one took a stab at modx over at the Drupal camp..they are better people than I, since I sometimes take a stab at Drupal (come on, with a name like that it is no wonder )..but it may be just a case of jealousy grin

Drupal is a very good CMS, but very different from modx... each serves it’s purpose, but when modx has the necessary addons I sure won’t go for Drupal : modx is fun and works my way, is faster to deploy and templating is a designer’s dream, drupal is nerdy and I have to work my brain into it, but it has great must-have modules for complex projects.
