    Just did a fresh install of 1.0.2

    As soon as I completed installation, it jumped to the manager which generated an error 500. The main directory came up as error 500 as well.

    I checked the error logs, and the server errors were generated by group writability on root and manager index.php files.

    Once I fixed those, the error 500 cleared, and the front end is working properly (shows empty welcome template).

    The problem is with the manager. it displays only the following:

    Warning: include_once(MODX_BASE_PATHmanager/includes/extenders/dbapi..class.inc.php) [function.include-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/hopearm4/public_html/manager/includes/document.parser.class.inc.php on line 39

    Warning: include_once() [function.include]: Failed opening ’MODX_BASE_PATHmanager/includes/extenders/dbapi..class.inc.php’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/home/hopearm4/public_html/manager/includes/’) in /home/hopearm4/public_html/manager/includes/document.parser.class.inc.php on line 39
    Could not load DBAPI class.

    Searching the forum turned up nothing, and google only returned one relevant result:

    http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,29184.0/wap2.html

    I read through the thread, and while the error is the same, i have little else in common. So far, this is the only problem i’ve had apart from the easily fixed 500s.

    My document.parser.class.inc.php is complete, and line 39 is intact. my config.inc.php is also complete, with all DB info correct. I took the advice in the thread and swapped it with an adapted version from a working install, but it did nothing to help. (I’ve since restored the intact original, to be on the safe side).

    The current error doesn’t show up in cpanel’s error log, so I’m stumped.

    While I do have some prior experience with modx, I’m a front end designer, so php is not my forte. Any help you can offer would be fantastic. Thanks!

    edit:

    Apache version 2.2.11 (Unix)
    PHP version 5.2.9 (i’m guessing CGI, i’ll have to get in touch with my host (midphase) for confirmation).
    MySQL version 5.0.81-community
    Architecture i686
    Operating system Linux

    Entire modx DB is only .82 MB.

    I’ve checked it out in firefox 3.5 and safari 4 on OSX 10.4. Installed all plugins offered with the stock install.

      this is odd.
      have you tried it in your localhost before?

        This is my first attempted install with midphase hosting. I don’t dev on a local machine, but I’ve got fully functional installs running on network solutions and hostmonster servers. Never encountered anything like this.

        The site is for a client of mine, and they’re switching to dreamhost in the future, so if all else fails we can wait it out undecided.

          The 500 error and the permissions is typical of CGI/suexec PHP configurations. The outputting of the constant name instead of its value is another matter. This should not just be affecting the manager; the parser loads the dbapi when generating the front-end pages as well.

          What does the section of your config.inc.php file look like around line 39? There should be a block of constant definitions
          if (!defined('MODX_BASE_PATH')) define('MODX_BASE_PATH', $base_path);
          if (!defined('MODX_BASE_URL')) define('MODX_BASE_URL', $base_url);
          if (!defined('MODX_SITE_URL')) define('MODX_SITE_URL', $site_url);
          if (!defined('MODX_MANAGER_PATH')) define('MODX_MANAGER_PATH', $base_path.'manager/');
          if (!defined('MODX_MANAGER_URL')) define('MODX_MANAGER_URL', $site_url.'manager/');

              1st, as a designer+developer, I always build my website in localhost.
              2nd, still, I have my own live development site, for testing the compatibility of server configurations.

              My best shot for your problem is try it in your localhost first.
              Use WAMP or LAMP or XAMPP for easy installer.
              Sometimes there is a slightly different configuration between servers that change everything.

              500 Internal Server Error always comes from the server’s setting (my current experience was making the public_html folder’s permission to 777, for revo -like its tutorial said-, which was absolutely wrong).

                i am so close. sigh.

                I did a fresh upload of the whole manager directory, and that fixed it. figures. i scoured the original directory for missing files, and everything was there, but i guess something small got cut off. whatever, it’s fixed.

                the manager login now appears as it should.

                but the login button doesn’t work.

                you can enter user/pass, but when you click the button, nothing happens. tested in ffx3.5/safari4/opera9.27.

                the html is fine, it’s a valid submit button. Still searching the forum for answers to this one.

                edit: modx generated an error log (i love you guys.) Full of the aforementioned error. Just noticed it, so I can’t tell if it’s from this new login error or the old problem. Since i deleted it and it’s not regenerating on subsequent attempts I’m assuming it’s from before.
