So I’ve encountered this problem many times in the past, but I’m working on a new server (running Plesk) and can’t seem to fix the problem this time. When attempting to upload images with the FCK Editor through an image T.V., I’m getting this message:
Failed to upload file, Internal error...
File size is not the problem as the images are under 50K.

The "images" directory has the permissions of 777. The only time this is happening is when I create a new directory inside the "images" directory with FCK Editor. I check the permissions of the new directories I’m creating through FCK Editor and it has 777. If I upload a new directory with images via FTP, the images in that directory do not have thumbnails. Once I change the permission of that directory I just upload via FTP to 777, the thumbnails show up of the images I just uploaded via FTP plus I can now upload new images into this directory with the FCK Editor.

    Server/MODx info:

    -- MODx 1.0
    -- PHP Version 5.2.4
    -- MySQL DB: 5.0.45

The issue that I’ve always seen is with the ownerships, not the permissions. Particularly on Plesk boxes Apache ("nobody") needs to own the /images/ and /files/. And you need to try to not create folders via FTP, since those will be owned by the account/FTP user and not Apache. Not sure why there are problems even with 777 folders, but I’ve seen it happen very, very often.
