Unable to edit home section of site due to a "user" editing it

I have only 2 users with access to my site
mine and a demouser
Although last night I was able to make some changes without any problems a friend of mine asked to check out modx since all i do is rant and rave about it and he is no longer logged in today since i talked to him just a few minutes ago. However when I click on the section to edit it says demouser is currently editing this site please wait yadda yadda.

I have tried the following:

logging in as demouser and clicking on reports section and then logging out
deleting the demouser account as a whole
cleared cache

any other suggestions?

go to "Tools" -> click on "Remove Locks"
