When I install MODX on Hostgator I can’t get image uploads with MCE or FCK to work. It is always ’internal error...’.

Hostgator support looked into it and sad that they do not allow 777 permision, just 755. I switched assets recursively to this but the same error occurs. Hostgator then replied:

"We did have a look and it appears to be a issue with MODx and how it
writes the umasks (permissions). I also checked the apache logs/error_logs
in your user directory and it points to this."

I know how to configure MODX so that uploads work as I have other installs else where. In fact, the File Manager uploads fine, it’s only through MCE or FCK that I get the error and only on Hostgator (Linux).

Has anybody out there managed to get uploads to work with Hostgator via MCE or FCK?

    I’m in tears.....!

    Thanks

        Glad to see this post.
Got the exact problem with Hostgator when I tried to implement FileDownloadPE that uploads files from Manager > document.

However, with the same server, if I use FileDownload and File Upload, where a user login, then upload a file from web page, it works fine. I still need to solve the image upload issue from Manager > document area though.

Hostgator support gave me similar answer too.

The other host I mentioned is Dotster, which is in Washington State. I get the same "internal error" when attempting to upload images through the editor or a TV.

              I found this:http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Securing_your_site

It says: "Due to incompatibility do not implement the following instructions if your version of MODx is Evolution 1.0.0.". Can MODx team member chime in on this?

              I have the v1.0.1 running.

I tried uploading an image via TinyMCE to one of my documents on a site that is hosted by Hostgator and all went fine.

Not so with my other site hosted by Dotster though...

                  Thanks Photowebmax and chinesedream

I’m gonna try out that wiki link tonight. It looks promising. And encouraging to know that it has been done with Hostgator. I’ll let you know how I get on.

I solved my problem with this issue on another server.

See this thread as it might be helpful. Good luck!
