Hey guys, I am new to modx and not much of a programmer. I am a designer and experienced html/css developer but have never really dived into php yet. I have got modx installed and have been able to use it for basic page content editing. Now I am wanting a little more flexibility out of the system and I am not sure of the best way to get there.
I would like to be able to enter information in one place such as, Title, date, content and have it display 1.) it’s full text on one page 2.) title, date and x amount of characters in other places.
To help understand what I am talking about please look at www.stevemullencreative.com. As you can see, on the homepage I show 3 short snippets under "words" Clicking the read more takes you to the full post. With this example it is basically a blog, but the same method could work for news, events, etc.
Any help pointing me in the right direction would be great. Thanks!

I agree look into ditto.. I think your most valuable parameters of ditto will be the call for the page id and the &tpl...
you will need a different template for each style (so full text vs "summary")
