wondering what the best method for this is, here’s what i need to do:

i have a site all set up, it’s using wayfinder to create the site navigation. within that navigation i need to have a document such as .doc or .pdf, which i would also like to appear in the file tree in the manager view.

is the best (or even only) method for doing this to create a "weblink" and then put the location of the file ’assets/docs/file.pdf’ into the "Weblink" field, and set the "Link Attributes" to ’target="_blank"’? or is there a way to create a resource that contains that document? it looks like there’s no clean ui for linking to a document, like you have to copy and paste the document’s address into the "Weblink" field.

i see there’s a "content type" when creating a new resource, but that’s only used for formatting html output into some other format correct? you aren’t actually uploading a document?

    thanks in advance.

The best way to do this is to use the weblink functionality. Like everything with MODx, there are numerous ways you could tackle this (depending on your knowledge of MODx and programming) but, to be honest, weblinks are easiest.
