Actually, I’d rather spend an hour educating someone than spending 10 minutes coding... that’s simply because ignorance is hungry. Ignorant users will always want more and more and I’d go crazy if I became the coding servant to cater to their whims... the first part of so many solutions is education. So many problems in site dev are non-technical.
While I understand your position, in this particular case I wouldn’t consider it ignorance. This particular user would be more then willing to learn. Every situation is unique and in this particular case, I feel this is a better solution for both myself and them.
