forgive me for say how stupid the manager users vs web users is.

Ok. so Manager users allows access into the backend. I get it.
Web Users are allowed access into front end.

I have created a Roles that allow people to change content for a page.

so. I created a custom login page called A. On this page I have the [!WebLogin!] Snippet. Once the user for A logs in they are set to go to page B (so they can content for this page.) Now everything works, they login and they are taken to page B. HOWEVER, there is no option to edit the resource???????

So I have a webuser but how can I assign them the Role I need to. Under Webuser the only option I have is to assign this to a user group.

    what am I missing here?

Webusers cant access the backend, thus they cant edit the stuff. Unless you use some custom built snippets etc.

Right, its says they can edit stuff.. but it doesnt let them. ie. I set up the login, take them to the page they are supposed to be able to edit and then nothing.

SO adding a web user allows you access to pages in a site (ie front end) but there is no way of assigning a Role, which means that they can not edit anything? is that correct?

          thanks smiley

Web users are intended to be used as custom application users that work in the front end of websites. Manager users are intended to manage the content and code of websites (or build the applications). That said, some plugins allow you to edit and create content from the front end as opposed to using the Manager UI, by both Web Users and Manager Users. MODx tends to be a bit on the flexible side. wink

BTW, in MODx Revolution, the distinction between Manager Users and Web Users no longer exists.

Back to your problem . . . there are a number of solutions.

                1. Teach the users to use the Manager
                2. Make them Manager users but throw them to the front end on login and have them use Quickedit
                3. Use the FDM or NewsPublisher snippets to let them edit in the front end.
                4. Use a snippet to log them on simultaneously as Web Users and Manager Users.
