Hello! Just got modx, and im installing as we speak. I just had a question come to mind while I was at it...
Is it possible for me to insert elements (like today’s special and newsreel) to existing pages? I have already laid out a site for a client but they want to be able to log in and change stuff like newsreels and specials of the week etc.
is it possible to manipulate modx this way? or am I looking in the wrong place?

Yes, that is exactly the single greatest advantage to MODx. It’s quite easy to add functionality if you’re a developer. Even if you’re not, there are already hundreds of third-party contributions for everything from photo galleries to polling scripts, with more being added all the time.
You’ll probably be looking at the snippet named Ditto, which comes with the installation. It is for listing specified documents, like blog posts or news articles. It is very flexible, and can generate anything from a simple "latest news" summary for the home page to an RSS feed.
thanks for the reply, Susan!
im going to read up on that right now. I’m glad it can do this, I’ve been looking around at all kinds of different CMS systems and they all look so ’bloggy’ with a lack of use for somebody who does ’rough cut’ business websites lol
im going to look up ’ditto’ hopefully i can make sense of this, i couldnt seem to find a readme or manual on this, however... am i not looking in the right place?
