    Hello everyone... complete newbie here (literate in css, html & PHP).

    ModxCMS could be everything I’m looking for, and am about to throw myself into understanding templates, snippets and chunks... EXCEPT for one thing which is driving me absolutely crazy. I must have the ability to create multi-level menus... BUT...

    in both installations I’ve done... ModxCMS v 0.96.3 and v 1.00... although I’m creating pages which are 3 levels down ie (child of child), the Wayfinder 2.0 ajax menu snippet refuses to display the 3rd level. Even though I can see it displayed within my source code.

    ie:
    <div id="ajaxmenu">

    <ul id="myajaxmenu">

    <li class="category first">
    <a href="http://www.casinosandhowtowin.com/" title="Casinos - Poker - Slots - Roulette">Home</a></li>

    <li class="category "><a href="/casinos-poker-slot.html" title="casinos - poker - slot - about">About</a></li>

    <li class="category "><a href="/casino-poker-slots-roulette.html" title="Casino Games">Casino Games</a>

    <ul style="display:none">
      <li class="first"><a href="/Poker.html" title="Poker">Poker</a>

    <ul style="display:none">

      <li class="first"><a href="/Poker-Different-Versions.html" title="Poker - Different Versions">Poker Variations</a></li>

    </ul></li>

    </ul></li>

    <li class="category "><a href="/Casinos-and-How-to-Win.com-Blog.html" title="Blog">Blog</a></li>

    <li class="category "><a href="/contact-casinos-and-how-to-win.html" title="Contact Us">Contact Us</a></li>

    <li class="category last"><a href="/Test-Page.html" title="Test Page">Test Page</a>

    <ul style="display:none">

      <li class="first"><a href="/Test-Level-2.html" title="Test Level 2">Test Level 2</a>

    <ul style="display:none">
      <li class="first"><a href="/Test-Level-3.html" title="Test Level 3">Test Level 3</a></li>

    </ul></li>

    </ul></li>

      </ul>
    </div>

    Surely, by default, this menu wouldn’t have been included with the CSS formatted so that the menu refuses to appear? What do I have to amend to get the menu showing to the third level?

      Hi...

      FYI

      I’ve removed:

      <ul style="display:none">

      from the chunk: mh.InnerTpl

      so it just reads:

      <ul>
        [+wf.wrapper+]
      </ul>

      So... my source code now does have "display:none" anywhere, but still, even though I’ve published and made sure the 3rd levels are ’childs’ of second levels, the third levels of my menu still don’t appear

      huh

      And this could be sooooo goood.!

        Hi Simon,

        the Wayfinder 2.0 ajax menu snippet
        which menu/snippet are you referring to?

          The snippet is Wayfinder. (I believe it’s version 2.0)

          Forgive me, I’m a complete newbie and am only just coming to learn the terms.

          The long and the short of it is, both the installations I’ve installed appear unable to produce menus which go to the third level (though the source code indicate the 3rd level of the menu is appearing)

          I essentially want the existing Ajax menu to behave like this one:

          http://www.muddydogpaws.com/development/wayfinder/examples/example-7.html

          I’m having a play, but can’t work out whether it’s a simple CSS change (don’t think so), or an edit (or addition) to the Snippet Call, or a change to one of the chunks.

          Thanks for your reply!

            in case you mean the menu that ships with MODx, it’s only 2 levels i think: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?topic=29076.0
            there’s also a ready to use wayfinder config-pack for a jQuery multilevel dropdown menu (attached to the first post):
            http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?topic=31376.0 -> http://modxguru.com/jquery_superfish_multi_lavel (the example displays just two levels, but it works with 3 too)

            maybe also check the wayfinder part of the forums for related posts: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/board,182.0.html

            ...and welcome to MODx smiley

              Thanks once again for your help! Really appreciate it...

              I think it’s a mistake for Modx to ship a sample site with an installation which only allows a 2 level menu. The first thing a person evaluating a new cms to do is to play with an existing site see if it fulfills certain criteria - 3 and 4 level menus are a must...

              Still, I like what I see! So I’m going to try and install one from somewhere... wish I hadn’t spend two days trying to get a 2 level menu go to 3! (Weird thing is, the third levels are viewable in ’view source’ which persuaded me I was doing something wrong!)

              Thanks!

              Simon
