I am using modx evolution 1. (realeased in june 2009.)

I have created the database but during installation nothing happens.

I entered username and password as well as "localhost"and tried the "servername" for database host, and nothing happens when I click "Test database server connection and view collations."

ONly thing that shows up in the adress bar is cms/install/index.php?action=connection#

    any ideas?

i think "localhost" is the way to go for that.

are you using your host login and password for the other two fields (as though logging into administer your website)?

I used the database user name and login etc and tried the username for the site as well...

nothing happens, I think that link is null ie # so all it does is add the pound sign to the url...

        sigh.

someone take me out ot the woods and shoot me.

You can see the section here on failing the database connection test during install:

            http://bobsguides.com/modx-installation-faq.html

If nothing there applies, you may just hava a corrupted file somewhere and a need to redo your download and upload.

Can you take a screen shot of the page where you’re entering in your info? We just want to make sure this is legit...

Also, are you able to login to MySQL using the db username/password? Usually I do this on the command line, e.g.
              mysql -u myuser -p -h localhost

Then I’m prompted for the password. If I can’t login using those credentials, then I know that MODx can’t login either. It’s very much worth testing. Sometimes I forgot to create the db user or I forgot to flush privileges.
