    Hi,
I have found that with my current setup and use of Wayfinder that I have had to create templates for practically each page of my site (thankfully not that many pages atm), which makes me believe that what I am doing is either incorrect or just very inefficient.
I have downloaded the "almost complete guide to wayfinder" but don’t have much time to read it, thus I want to know if anyone can provide a quick fix.
Forgive me for my bad descriptions tongue

    The situation:
I have several pages that act as sections, with children pages under each that act as "categories". Both of these are containers. I.e.:
    - Writing Lessons (section)
    - Story Structure (category)
    - 2nd category level (not currently implemented but desired)
    - Character Development(category)
    - My Stories (section)
    - Story 1(category)
    - Story 2(category)

The sections appear as menu links within my main navigation (i.e. top nav). The categories appear in the side bar under the heading "categories". (For an example please visit www.katskinner.com).

    The problem:
I am currently using Wayfinder to show these "sections" and "Categories". When a user browses to Writing Lessons, I have wayfinder script link to a particular page id "1" (inserted random number here). However, with this utilization I have to write a second script that links to page id "2" for the My Stories section. And So on.
An example of the script I’m using:
    [[Wayfinder?startId=`63` &outerTpl=`mh.OuterTpl` &innerTpl=`mh.InnerTpl` &rowTpl=`mh.RowTpl` &innerRowTpl=`mh.InnerRowTpl` &firstClass=`first` &hereClass=``]]

    What I really want:
What I really want is a script that will automatically show first level child documents without linking to an actual page id. I.e. No matter whether your on Writing Lessons section or My Stories section, I would like the wayfinder script on the sidebar to display links to the 1st category level).
Naturally, if I implement 2nd category levels, if the user browses to category level 1 they can see links in the sidebar to the documents below.
If there is a way to show a number of child levels this would be interesting to know as well.

So please, if anyone could provide the right script?

    Thank you in advance,
    Kathleen

      Have a loko at this:
      http://www.muddydogpaws.com/development/wayfinder/parameters.html

The parameters [tt]&excludeDocs[/tt] and [tt]&level[/tt] may be your friends smiley

        Hey,
I attempted to add the &levels to my script, however it wouldn’t show any further than the first level.
Below is the script I am using:
        [[Wayfinder?startId=`0` &level=`4` &outerTpl=`mh.OuterTpl` &innerTpl=`mh.InnerTpl` &rowTpl=`mh.RowTpl` &innerRowTpl=`mh.InnerRowTpl` &firstClass=`first` &hereClass=``]]
Is there something wrong with my script? All the other templates are from the sample content installed.

Is there a particular script that will pick up what folder the user is in (i.e. Writing Lessons at id 50), and display the first level child documents for this. Continuing this both up and down the tree?

        Thanks
        Kathleen

Try calling wayfinder uncached und using [tt]&startId=`[*id*]`[/tt] to insert the id of the current document id as the start paramter:
          [!Wayfinder? &startId=`[*id*]`!]
