Base URL's

Hey guys,

I was wondering if there was anyway I can have in the <base> tag in the header spit out the current page i’m on.

The only thing i’m getting is this:

for this example the URL reads http://www.mysite.org/sample-page.html

<base href="http://www.mysite.org/"></base>

I would like the base url to read the same:

<base href="http://www.mysite.org/sample-page.html"></base>

That doesn’t make sence,

The base href is to tell the site the base domain, if you had <base href="http://www.mysite.org/sample-page.html"></base> then all relative links wolud be <base href="http://www.mysite.org/sample-page.html/other page"></base>

What are you actually trying to do achieve ??

I’m sorry for the confusion what I meant to say is that i’m only getting the domin name not the full path of the current page.

All i’m currently getting is this:

<base href="http://www.mysite.org/"></base>

If i’m on an interior page lets say About Us I am thinking the base url would have the path to that current page also something like this:

<base href="http://www.mysite.org/about-us.html"></base>

But thats not what i’m getting all i am getting is:

<base href="http://www.mysite.org/"></base>

I hope I explained that right.

Thanks for the quick reply

The site_url and base HTML element that is recommended for all MODx templates should always be pointed at the root of the site, not the current page.

Is there anyway to have it point to the current page?

I think you’d have to use a snippet in the template (though I can’t imagine why you’d want to). Something like this (untested):

And in the CurrentPage snippet:

You could do it, but it would be completely invalid.
