As I am upgrading a static HTML-based site to use MODx, I’ve used the "site offline" feature to allow myself and a moderator to edit content while giving visitors a notice that the site is being updated. The user is then redirected to a mirror of the old site (on another domain).
The problem is that if I log in as a manager, edit a couple of pages and then log in as manager on another computer, I can visit the first page of the front end but every other page is having me redirected as a normal visitor until I’ve cleared the site cache.
What could be causing this odd behaviour? I’ve tried uncaching the redirect page and several snippet calls in my template but this does nothing.
I am using Evo 1.0.0 with all the latest updates.
edit: having all pages set to uncached works, but doesn’t feel very optimized.
Possible solutions: 1. Supress all caching while site is offline; 2. Clear cache on every manager login.
My gut tells me that option 1. is the more viable one, but I’d still like to figure out why the site is behaving like this.. Preferably, I’d like to keep the core as is without too much hacking.
edit 2: I found a way to reproduce this strange behaviour: I have all my pages uncached but a single one. I can visit all pages including the cached one, but once I’m at the cached page I cannot navigate BACK to one of the uncached ones. In other words it seems like leaving a cached page isn’t possible... instead I get the redirection page. However, if I first navigate back to the entry document with ID #1, I can visit all the other pages until visiting the cached one yet again.
