I recently upgraded from 0.9.6.3 to 1.0, and all seemed to go without a hitch.

However, a user recently updated a TV on the home page, and all assigned TV’s were emptied/set to their defaults. When I try to edit the template, it appears empty. When I look in the DB, I can see it is still there.

When I try to duplicate/manually create a page with the same template, it has the same problem.

The same problem exists for the manager and the QM tool.

I disabled the QM and re-enabled Quick Edit, and that allows me to update the page, TV by TV.

I did some tests, and found that entries in the database for TV content for the page in question are all removed when saving.

    Does anyone have any ideas!?

(Plus, my backups, made daily since February, don’t unzip! So I’ve had to use Google cache to recreate the page. It’s a separate, non ModX issue though.)

That’s a very odd problem; what does this template look like? And can you provide any more insight on the TV’s that are getting reset to the default?

I have attached the template on this post.

        The TVs are:

        • 6 images - background images
        • 3 Text - title bars
        • 7 Richtext - tab text and standard text on page
        • 1 textarea - a tabbed feed box, so basically some snippets in div tags

It’s also worth mentioning that standard content fields like the title and main content area are working as usual. However, I don’t display the main content on this page, as it’s the home page.

I have also noticed that the version number in the top-right corner of the manager still says 0.9.6.3. Do you think something failed in the upgrade?

Yeah, sounds like all the new files didn’t get transferred or the database upgrade didn’t complete properly. I would try re-uploading the files and running the upgrade install again first and if the problem still persists we’ll look deeper.

OK. I’ll give that a go and get back to you.

              Hi Jason,

Thanks for your help. I have followed the upgrade process again, with slow precision. As far as I can tell, nothing was different, but now everything is working smoothly.

So clearly there was a difference, and I think it is my FTP client (Transmit) which I use as it allows me to change permissions as I upload automatically (for PHPsuExec, or whatever). It offers separate merge and replace facilities, and I suspect that a file or two wasn’t properly upgraded last time.

Typing all this to help any future upgraders!

              Thanks again.

              E.

I have read a couple of posts where rogue ftp clients have spoiled upgrades, get yourself filezilla...100% success rate so far for me!

I use it on Windows and never thought of it elsewhere.

I loved Cyberduck, until I found the auto permissions change not to work properly.

I paid for Transmit because it offered Automator actions that I thought I could use to automatically backup my site, and then didn’t use them. I keep using it because I paid for it and I’m stubborn.

So the bottom line is that I should bring Filezilla into my macworld, assuming it runs on a mac. I’ll go check...

The answer’s yes, although the interface is a bit horrible. As long as it can reliably do FTP, I’ll be happy smiley Thanks for the suggestion!
