I was wondering if there is any way to specify that when the user chooses for example the newsarticle template to enter a new article, the resource parent box is automatically set to the News page container id?
Trying to make the manager as easy as possible for my client to use.
Any insight will be much appreciated!

I’m not sure something like that exists but have a look at Template Rules in my signature.
You can limit the use of templates for certain containers. It can be extended to limit the use of certain templates for root documents.
If the Newspage container uses that template and the user right clicks on it and selects "Create Document Here" I think you’ll get what you want automatically. (Assuming that I’m understanding what you’re doing).
