Yeah, I’ve no idea what was going on, but changing it solved the problems I had. And I’m positive I didn’t do anything else, since I spent like two days wondering why the site had no styling at all in IE6&7. I tried all sorts of things before getting rid of <base href="[(site_url)]"></base>, but changing that was the only thing that worked. 
Nevermind, it seems I can’t duplicate the bug anymore.
