All the files on didyouknow.org work fine except for the children of only one container, yet they show up in the manager tree and can be worked on normally. They can also be previewed in the browser, albeit that they are displayed by their funny URL, not their friendly URL. The container page didyouknow.org/info.htm shows up correctly online but when clicking on any of the children links it goes to the error page (currently home page). Any idea what the problem could be?

Sometimes the base tag (or lack of it) can cause the URLs to not parse correctly:

This is a problem that occurs with any CMS that uses Apache’s mod_rewrite.

Can you preview these pages? In other words, are the pages there, your menu just isn’t linking to the correct URL?

Do you have Friendly URLs enabled? If yes, what is the URL of one of these pages and what URL is your menu pointing to?

Do you have another page with info as its alias? I ask because I tried http://didyouknow.org/info as an address and got a page with no furniture giving "# Contact info submission". Don’t ask me why I did that (’cos I don’t know) rolleyes

Thanks Everett and k. You both may now take the day off smiley

That info file is a info.txt file needed by Alexa and others to display site owner details, said to add a nano point in page ranking but generally just good practice to use. However, it did seem to confuse the CMS because when I removed it the links from the info.htm file worked fine.

Pity to have to remove the info.txt file but some of those children pages have good rankings in search engines and I’d rather keep their URLs unchanged.

          Enjoy your day off.
