I’m in the process of developing my 2nd site with Modx v. 1.0.0. First time around I had no problem and things went really well. This time around I’m not so lucky. I seem to be running into a problem that I just can’t figure out. I developed my site and uploaded just a basic HTML page to the server. I usually just put placeholders for dynamic content from Modx. This is pretty standard when I’m checking CSS and cross-browser compatibility. Don’t want to go to all the work of implementing the CMS if it’s not going to work right.

With the basic page developed everything seems to be working well. I have a few images that are loaded as static images in the page and I’m running a jQuery plugin called cjSimpleSlideShow. Like I said everything is working fine on my static page layout.

Now my next step is loading the template. The first thing I did was load the static HTML page into Modx as a page template. I didn’t add any TV’s to the page. So essentially everything is still static. I assigned this to the main page so I could test once again. Here is where my problem comes in.

All the images that are loaded from the CSS file as backgrounds etc. seem to be working fine. Most of the static images that are loaded into the page seem to be working fine. However, I have a few random images that will not load. It’s not that they aren’t uploaded to the server they just don’t seem to be in the code any longer. For instance if I check the view source I might see something like: <img src="" alt="alt tag"> but in the template code I would have something like <img src="images/image.jpg" alt="alt tag">.

There really is no reason for this. If I navigate directly to the image like http://www.domain.com/images/image.jpg it loads the image with no problem.

I’ve tested in multiple browsers and multiple computers with the same results. Anyone ever have this issue before?

      Get yourself firefox and firebug.
Open the panel inspector and click Net and all
That will give you a blow by blow account of every assets being called to make up your page.
If it’s in red, there is a problem (IE a 404 it cant find something)

If something is not showing up...its because the path to that something is usually wrong...

Possible JS conflict with cjSimpleSlideShow? Anything showing in the error console in your browser.

No, that’s the problem. There aren’t any conflicts from what I can tell. Fortunately, I’m just testing at the moment. I have the time to debug and mess around with this some.

Even stranger, I’m working in Dreamweaver for the layouts and one of the static images that is displaying without issue I delete and add back in to the page. Now it too is having the same display issue. It just isn’t even loading it into the page even though it was before.

I have this issue but only with a client who uses IE. Images load fine for all other browsers. My images are simple <img> tags, no slide shows are anything fancy.

            this image:

try it in IE8.. it’s a no show.

running 9.6.3 on this site still.

You might want to try fixing the validation errors: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fpetcentralnyc.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0
