Installation problem

Hi

I am having trouble installing MODx. When i get to enter the database info i keep getting a fail message: "Checking database: failed - could not create database"

I can’t believe i am having so much trouble as i am following along with a book and using MAMP as my local development server. But it doesn’t matter how many times i go through it i still keep getting a failed message.

I appreciate any help as i need to learn this asap due to client wants! (

Sounds like your mysql user doesn’t have permissions to create a database. Try creating it on your own, either through the command line, cPanel, or phpMyAdmin.
