    Hi,

I’m currently researching options for a personal project, I would like to create a regionally based creative arts and crafts community website/network similar to that seen at www.behance.net, www.commarts.com and www.artician.com.

I have a number of generally and specific questions regards running a community site with MODx.

First; the site would feature private portfolios for each member, where members would have options to share images with the wider community and possibly receive feedback (optional set by the member). The site would need to give each member an individual URL (example www.domain.org/username), I’d guess this would be quite simple with SEO friendly URLs.

I’d like to allow members to privately message each other via an in-box messaging system, could the SMF suite provide this requirement?

As the site could (quickly, hopefully) expand into many thousands of images and related nodes would MODx Evolution struggle with Caching? I know there’s been debate over an upper limit of 5000 pages, does this still apply in Evolution?

In general how does MODx cater with community/network sites. Have you found it aids or hinders community interactions and what are the general common obstacles faced when trying to establish a successful community site.

    Thanks for any comments smiley

p.s. please feel free to post any sites similar to the above, it would be helpful to see how others have developed similar community sites.

I think you’ve posted in the wrong forum. This section is for showcasing sites. You can request a moderator to move your post to the right place where you’ll also get better responses.
