    Hi,

Seems like a lot of us are having problems while testing the db connection.

would it be possible for a sticky topic to be posted where the process is defined?

    my situation:

    Windows Vista
    MODx Evolution 1.0.0
    Apache 2.2.11
    MySQL 5.1.36
    PHP 5.3.0

that shows i have installed WAMP on my computer, from which i can access the phpMyAdmin console where i can see and manage the tables. I also can do it directly from the cmd line for MySQL.

for the sake of clarity i even created a user ’user’ and granted all privileges and grants for the database that i created using the admin console.

i tried using this is the same user and the pwd that was set and also i used the user/pwd set during WAMP for MySQL.

None seem to have any effect. the link is unresponsive.

am i to understand WAMPhttp://www.wampserver.com/en/and MODX are in compatible or i am making some mistakes.

could some one please detail the process or provide some pointers...

    thank you,
    -U

I’ve used Wampserver on an XP machine as my localhost setup with Modx.
Have you created an empty database via phpMyAdmin for Modx to use?

        hi,

yes i did create an empty db from the phpMyAdmin console.

when you say for MODX use, is there something special i need to do?

        thanks

No. As long as the database name, username and password you use in the installation are correct for the database, and the server is correct (localhost is probably the best) it should go.

nope, i can see the database, i log in to the mysql cmd line console using the password, so i presume that the database exists and the password is accurate. [ screen shots attached ]

i am able to run other sites from the www folder of the wamp installation... although none of them are using the DB ;-)

              Hi,

thanks to bunk58 i got the snafu solved. i had changed the MySQL port from the normal 3306 to 3307 since i had and other instance of MySQL running.

in the db connection test page all that needed to be done was to enter

              localhost:3307 and not only localhost.

              simple but elegant.

              thanks bunk58.
