Hi there, Modx was recommended to me as an easy and flexible cms for applying cms to parts of my site after it was build. Since I’m a designer and not a code junkie this was very helpful info. Now here’s what I want to do.

    1. I only have to apply some cms on the pages that are in the secure part of the site. Do I install Modx in the root folder or in the secure folder since it’s only needed there? The documentation doesn’t say.

    2. The elements that I need to apply the cms to are a few QuickTime movies on the page and two text fields. Can Modx handle QuickTime?

    3. What’s the best route for me? Modx seems a bit of an overkill for the simple things I need to do.

I work with GoLive CS2 (OSX 10.5.6) and review my progress with Safari 3/Firefox 3.5. The server of the website handles Apache, php5, mySQL and Perl; latest versions they say.

    TIA
Hmmm, what will this button do?

MODx doesn’t interfere with your QuickTime or anything else on the page. As long as your links are pointing to the files needed correctly, it’ll work.

Since most of a MODx site is stored in the database, with only auxiliary files such as .css or .js files in the filesystem (and even they can be stored in the database too if you want) it really doesn’t matter where you put it.

Perhaps you need to do a little more research into just what MODx is and what it does. You’re welcome to go poke around on my site, for example; there’s a guest login to the Manager, some articles posted and the beginnings of a book.
