Get variable from another resource?

Is there a way to insert a template variable from another resource into an existing template? For example, if there is an image file set as a TV in a child resource, can I display that same image on the parent resource from its child’s TV? Can Ditto do this?

Ditto can for sure do it by &documents or &parents parameter.
But look for GetField snippet in the reposititory!!

So how could I get Ditto to basically return only the value of a single template variable? Basically I’d like to call up a couple of template variables in the site header for jQuery purposes, and then in a couple of other places.

I’m sure the first part of the Ditto call would look like

or some such, but I’m not sure where to go from there. I’m having a little trouble comprehending Ditto’s documentation.
