    Hi all,

I’m a super beginner, just downloaded MODX and trying to learn all this. Everything looks awesome, but I have a tiny problem:

I’m using Eclipse as an HTML editor (Windows). I copy pasted the template code from the built-in sample site into a new HTML file in Eclipse. However, when I tried to save it, I got this error:

    Save could not be completed.

    Reason:
Character encoding "[(modx_charset)]" is not a legal character encoding.

I understand that Eclipse doesn’t allow saving files with unsupported values, but this seems to me like an overly strict validation... :|

I’m surprised no one had this problem before though (searched forums and Google). Does anyone have an idea how to overcome this?

No, this would be a problem. Eclipse is not accepting the MODx tag in that location when trying to save a template. It’s acting as a validator, and being a bit too helpful here.

First, which release of Eclipse are you running? And what HTML editor are you using (the one from the Web Tools Platform (WTP))? I’ve had this problem in the past and was able to resolve it by turning off some validation for the editor, but I cannot recall exactly where this is in the Preferences at the moment...
