I’m having problems installing modx - I have set up my database and have got past the ’Connection to host: passed - collations now available’ point, but entering the database information all i get is ’Checking database: failed - database collation mismatch; use SET NAMES or choose latin1_swedish_ci’

I have set up countless databases in the past and never had problems - could someone let me know what I am doing wrong please.

    Many thanks

It means exactly what it says. Your database is probably set to the MySQL default collation, which is latin1_swedish_ci, while the MODx installer’s default selection is UTF-8.

Ah right you are thanks - it was the wording that confused me thought it meant I had to change it in the drop down on the install page - never mind.

Many thanks but now I have another problem - although everything checked out ok on the initial install screens - after the very last page (where it uninstalls the install folder) I just get a white screen that states Warning: include_once(MODX_BASE_PATHmanager/includes/extenders/dbapi..class.inc.php) [function.include-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/public_html/mysite/modx-1.0.0/manager/includes/document.parser.class.inc.php on line 39

        any ideas

        thanks

Sounds like the config file did not get written properly. It’s going to be a permissions issue, but without more information about your platform/environment, we are unsure how to direct you...
