I’ve created a great site in Modx (the "original site") and now I want to create a few more that are much like it. My thinking is that I will simply install ModX for a new site and then, using phpMyAdmin, import the database from the original site (using phpMyAdmin) into it. My site should then show up and I can then tweak the site from there.
However, all I get is errors when I try this. Any suggestions? Shouldn’t this process be identical to restoring a site?
Thanks!
I would suggest you make a clean install
Take note of the
File Manager Path
Resource path
(see configuration)
Overwrite the new install with existing website. Except manager/includes/config.inc.php.
Overwrite the database
Login and change File Manager Path and Resource path.
Basically that’s it
Thanks for your quick reply. My problem is with the "overwrite database" part. When I do this, I get a message of:
MySQL said:
#1050 - Table ’modx_active_users’ already exists
After that, I cannot proceed. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
When you Export a copy of your primary database check the Add DROP TABLE / VIEW / PROCEDURE / FUNCTION in phpMyAdmin.
Then, when you Import the .sql file it will delete the existing tables before before creating and populating them with the copied data.
