Log in to the Manager. Go to Resources->Manage Resources (or Elements->Manage Elements if you’re using 1.0) and open the Templates tag. Edit the template you’re using, and make sure the links to the stylesheets are to your new directory; instead of assets/templates/default/site.css you would want it to say assets/templates/mydefault/site.css

Likewise any other paths to the original assets/templates/default need changing; I can’t think of any others though.

The files in the assets/templates/whatever directories are not the template itself; they are support files like .css stylesheets, background images for the template, stuff like that. The template itself is in the database, and you manage it from the Manager as above. It is simply a plain HTML structure, with the different parts such as the page title, menus and the main content text supplied by MODx tags. That’s why it’s called a template wink

Don’t feel bad; we all had to start somewhere cool

      Thanks!

      By the way...

Which one of the backup links that you provided will work with Mac OS?

Since they work on the server, not the client, they should work. Or is your server on the Mac? I have the first module installed on my Mac. The backup part works fine on my MAMP install, although there is a problem with trying to restore using the module. While it won’t unzip the archive in place, it will allow me to upload the .sql file (after I download the archive and unzip it) and then import it, so it’s really not a big issue.

I presume you are talking about OS X; if it’s OS 9 or earlier, it’s been too many years since I worked with those to be of any help.

I’m not real sure about the second backup module; it’s pretty old and I’m not sure it will work with more recent versions of MODx.

Actually, come to think of it, my site site is hosting on Linux servers through godaddy.com.

          Cool!

And yes, I do use Mac OS X.
