    Hello,
    I thought about posting a reply in my previous post, but thought since it has been longer than 45 days it may be better to start a new topic.
    It is located in the footer chunk.
    <embed src="assets/media/ahhthespahh.wav">
    <noembed> <bgsound src="assets/media/ahhthespahh.wav"> </noembed>

    I placed this code in the footer of my site but I cannot get it to play.

    Any thoughts?
    should I make a mp3? or other format?
      The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity.

        Is the problem only occurring in modx? The embed element has been deprecated for some time now, and bgsound is IE-specific. http://www.w3schools.com/media/media_browsersounds.asp

        I urge you to reconsider auto-playing background music on page load for the user’s benefit. It’s a huge annoyance and visitor deterrent. If you’d like to have music, it’s much more user-friendly to have an audio player widget that the user can control if they choose to listen. Here’s a tutorial for that approach: http://www.macloo.com/examples/audio_player/

            Still having some issues....
            I created the following chunk
            <object classid="clsid:22D6F312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95">
                <param name="AutoStart" value="1" />
                <param name="FileName" value="assets/media/filetobeplayed.mp3" />
            </object>

            and I called it music.

            I went to the page I need it installed in, the home page, and entered the following command
            {{music}}

            But when I go the the home page I can see where it is supposed to be playing, but I can not hear anything. Anyone with ideas I am willing to listen and read wink

              Give this: http://www.longtailvideo.com/ a try. Under support > setup wizard you can get the code needed to make it all work as a mp3 player.

                Thanks for the reply...
                so I cannot figure out why I cannot hear mucis.... it is just a 13.5 second sound loop....

                I created a chunk...
                <script type='text/javascript' src='assets/media/swfobject.js'></script>

                <div id='mediaspace'>This text will be replaced</div>

                <script type='text/javascript'>
                  var so = new SWFObject('assets/media/player.swf','mpl','470','20','9');
                  so.addParam('allowfullscreen','true');
                  so.addParam('allowscriptaccess','always');
                  so.addParam('wmode','opaque');
                  so.addVariable('author','R. McAuley');
                  so.addVariable('description','Soothing music');
                  so.addVariable('file','http://staging.ahhthespahh.com/assets/media/ahhthespahh.mp3');
                  so.addVariable('autostart','true');
                  so.addVariable('icons','false');
                  so.addVariable('repeat','always');
                  so.write('mediaspace');
                </script>

                and call it from the home page using the following code...
                {{music}}

                I have firebug installed and can see where it is trying to play... But is is not.... I can hear the sound when I call the url

                http://staging.ahhthespahh.com/assets/media/ahhthespahh.mp3
                But it won’t play when called by the code. :’( :’(

                  I just tried it in FF and it works just fine. The only suggestion I will make is change:
                  <div id='mediaspace'>This text will be replaced</div>

                  to this:
                  <div id="mediaspace">This text will be replaced</div>

                  Do you have JS/Flash installed/enabled? What browser are you using?

                    It works in IE7 too (although I had to stare at a blank Windows Media Player screen for about 10-15 seconds).
