    Hi,

I want to open this topic to learn more about the usual used snippets/plugins that are not in the default installation.
Until now I only installed MaxiGallery and automaticTpl(made by me) and sometimes ChildrenCount

I’m also planning in using some kind of versioning tool(Auditor or Content History)

Is there any other plugin that you can’t live without?

    Thx

Every project uses Ditto, Wayfinder and eForm (but these don’t count they are standard work horses). GetField often gets installed since it is so easy to use and very handy as well as UltimateParent. ManagerManager is one of my new favorites but I have only used it on a few projects.

Content-history is a must have for corporate sites. It is a bit overkill for my personal site but it is a must for any site with multiple editors. And the serach plugin (sorry I cant remember the name) is fantastic, specially the search and replace features.

Oh, and the GoogleAnalytics plug-in is a must, if the site uses GA that is.

I also have a handful of special purpose simple snippets I use for stuff like showing the pagetitle if longtitle is not filled in and building simple menu systems.

For special templates that make heavy use of TVs and don’t need the default content-area, I find the "Hide Editor" plugin invaluable.

The most often used snippet is perhaps inc, that basically just uses PHP’s include() function to grab html/php files from the server. This makes template/chunk/snippet editing a lot easier, imho.

Hide-Editor -> For this I used the Create Web Link instead of Create Document but I guess Hide-Editor is the correct way

        Include looks nice.

        Thx ganeshXL.

I see Content-history is in Beta. Is it safe to use?

I think it is beta simply to say "Use at your own risk" but sure feels like it is release ready. I used it on one client site that has moderate editing activity and so far no problem. From what I could tell it is unobtrusive and does not interfere with modx, it runs on events and records to an isolated table. There may be more coverage/support for it in the German forum since I think that is where is originated. Since it is in beta, I recommend that if you use it for a client that you explain that it is in beta before hand.

My new favorite toys are plugins. They cut out a lot of monotony for me (like adding default TVs to a new template)

              - Plugin ManagerManager to hide fields, change order of tvs, etc etc
              - Plugin Auto-Default-TVs - all my templates have some basic TVs like body-style, layout-template, css-js
              - Module SuperPage - for creating many documents at once

What are TV's? Here's some info below.

Hey dev_cw.. I have a question. I use the GA plug in, and I love it, it’s worked flawlessly countless times. I was wondering though - could you just paste the GA code that Google gives you into a template? So, whenever you use that template, the code is run? Perhaps I’m missing something, but wouldn’t that help reduce a bit of DB information?

Ahh, but the advantage of the plugin is that you can acivate/deactivate it on a page-by-page basis by using the "Log visits (stats)" checkbox. Also I found out that the plug-in is smart and only gets added to xHTML pages (no xml or txt documents). I simply find the plugin too handy and prefer it to the chunk (I have used both).

it does not work in 0.9.6.3 RC2 and someone said 0.9.6.2 too
Does it work for you ganeshXL?

[suggestion] Check the plugin execution order. It may need to be altered to avoid conflict with another plugin like the image loading one that is new in 0962
