    Hi,

i have some special problem with the data upload.

I created for a friend a small modx page (Version 0.96). He is photographer.

When i upload some pictures (Datauploadmanager), modx changes some colors.

    See the pictures here:

See the skin color. Modx Changes some colors and Quality.

If it possible to prevent the color/quality change?

That looks an awful lot like possibly the single most annoying thing for people posting images to the web: a difference in color spaces.

If I had to guess, you’re looking at the images in Photoshop or some other image editing program, and when you look at them on the website, the colors look muted and dull?

That’s because your image editing program is reading the JPEG’s embedded color profile -- basically, algorithms that define how the color data in the image should look. But most web browsers can’t interpret color profiles, so images that look fine on your OS or in photo software look washed out in a browser.

This site goes into the details of the problem:
        http://www.gballard.net/psd/saveforwebshift.html

But I would skip the advice in there and see this for practical use:
        http://www.usabilitypost.com/2008/07/30/photoshop-color-profiles-for-web-images/

That way, you’ll be able to see how it’ll look as you work.

Basically, if you’re not saving the images for the website, this is an unavoidable issue. I would pass this information on to your photographer friend so they’re aware of it: without careful color profile management, your stuff will look different in browser.

Of course, I could be wrong and it could be a problem with ModX, but that color loss looks entirely familiar to me.

I bet it looks fine in Safari, too, which supports embedded ICC profiles.

This goes back to how you’re uploading the images. If you’re just uploading them to file, and displaying them in <img> tags, then absolutely nothing is done to them. If you’re uploading them via a script such as MaxiGallery, then they are probably being filtered through PHP’s GD library. In either case, MODx has nothing to do with how they look in the user’s browser.
