I’ve been researching this for hours, but cannot find the answer. I’m trying to upload a swf file in the media section, with Flash selected. When I do, I get the disallowed message. SWF is included in the listing of allowed files, as well as in the media section. My users are set to use the system settings, and I only have the admin user anyway. No other users. My folder permissions are 777 (assets and manager). What am I missing?
Thanks,

Check the list of allowed files for the individual user with which you’re having problems.

I only have the 1 admin user, and those settings are Use System Configuration Setting (See image attachment). I also have swf in the configuration (See attached image). Is there a third place I need to set?

Try specifically setting it for your admin user.
Ok, I tried that, but still getting the disallowed error message.

Is this uploading via the rich text editor’s "insert/edit embedded media" button, or via the MODx File Manager (Resources -> Manage Files)?
I get the error through the FCK editor. When I upload through the file manager, it uploads fine, but the FCK editor does not display the file. In the file manager, I added the file to Assets : Flash. Was this correct?

Should work. I just tried it with mine, using both the insert embedded media button in the TinyMCE menu and File Manager, and they both worked. The resource browser from TinyMCE (yes, that is the old mcpuk browser that was written for FCKEditor) automatically opens into the assets/flash folder; I could upload and see whatever else was already there. So I don’t know what to say to help you.
How do I fix the disallowed error so I can upload swf files to my site?

OK, I figured it out. I had to add swf to the Media section under user settings, not just under the flash section.
