How do I get started with modx?

I’m really sorry to ask this, but I’m not understanding how to open modx in order to start working with it. I know I’m being a bit thick.

I have installed it and as far as I’m aware everything went o.k.

I want to start working with the coding pad tutorials and followed their advice not to download the sample site.

I typed http://yoursite.com/manager (is this what I type I have tried typing the actual location which is in MAMP/htdocs but I get the error log not found on this server).

which takes me to ecommerce hosting from yoursite, I can’t see any where to log in.

When I installed modx I got as far typing in all the connection information from database host to administrator password, it said the installation had been successful.

I then switched everything off, wanting to come back to it later because it was late.

I am obviously missing something, sorry to be a pain.

This is a local installation? If it is...never used MAMP before, but unless you specifically created virtual hosts in apache, I think you need to access the site using localhost.

My browser homepage is set to localhost, so just opening a new tab and clicking the Home icon brings me to my list of available installations.

For editing or other file access, I simply dragged the /Applications/MAMP/htdocs folder to the Finder sidebar "Places" section, then when I click on it I get a listing of available subsites. No pain, even if I have a dozen different things installed all at the same time!

But yes, if you want to enter the address manually, the domain needs to be localhost.
