    I am looking at building a website for a photographer (mate at work) and the general goal is for him to be able to upload his pictures and people then to buy and download full size images though the site, I have done a google and found a number of free source applications that might do roughly what I want but as modx has always had something for any solution I have needed just thought I would pick the communities brains in the hope someone would be able to give me a pointer to exactly what I need.

    Cheers

      Something like this perhaps?

      http://www.italianartists.eu/Work.html

      Of course the caroussel is just one of the options with Maxigallery.

        Yep something along them lines would work perfect, would need to be able to disply more images per page but I guess with maxi gallery that can be customized to do anything, I wonder if there is a way to set this up with paypal as right now he might only get 1 or 2 orders per month so foxycart would not cost in at all, but that is certainly the direction I am looking at going in was not aware maxi gallery could be tied into any payment gateway I wonder if there is am addon for that.

        Thanks

          Hi Ian,

          okay so let me know if you can t figure this one (Maxigallery) out.
          I just put a foxycart "placeholder" in the infopane.
          Guess you should be able to do the same with this snippet:

          Best, Frank.

            If I can get that snippet to work with each individual image that would be pretty to close to what I am after, the paypal button displays all ok if the snippet call is on the page but how do I get the button to display next to each image, I am not sure what you mean by infopane.

            Guess it is just me being slow smiley

              Ian,

              you should be able too, the info pane is where title etc of the image are displayed.
              It is what you can fill in when you are in the maxigallery manager.
              I created a custom field in the maxigallery call (check the mg WIKI) and that contains price and size info.
              That info is then beeing used in the HTML link to (in my case) foxycart.

              Now in my case the thumbs in the carousel are the images that contain that info. Not the large image, that is a background image in that div, and you wil not be able to attach links etc to a background image. (as far as I know).
              So how do you want to set up the large size image? Lightbox, smoothgallery or athers? Let me know, will be gone for a mountain trip back next week.

              Frank.

                Hi Frank

                I think I am falling at the 1st hurdle here, I cant see where in the wiki http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/MaxiGallery where it explains how to create a custom form field. However what I can see is placholders to add to the template, but then what I dont get is maxigallery runs as a snippet call inside a template.
                Not quite getting it wonder if you could point me in the right direction I am a little slow on the uptake. huh

                Regards

                  Hi Ian,

                  got any futher?
                  Not sure if I understand well your doubt on how to implement MG in a template.
                  You could just make your snippet call in your document content, or create a field/box/div for it.

                  Here is the how to do custom fields, check and read carefully the first post in the thread:
                  http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,24600.0.html. Remember you need the 0.6 test version to create custom fields and externall gallery caroussel. In your snippet cal you can define custom fields like so

                   [!MaxiGallery? &customFields=`customfield1,customfield2,etc` &rest of your call!]

                  So there is not much to it, just that the forms where you do the upload and the readout of those custom fields should also be updated. But that is all in the link provided by Doze. http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,24600.0.html.

                  Frank.

                    Understand the templates a little now, I was thinking of ditto where you create you own templates and put calls in hence my last reply made no sence.

                    In managepicture.tpl I added this extra line called price

                    [+maxigallery.strings.price+]:
                    	<br/>
                    	<textarea name="[+maxigallery.fieldnames.price+]" rows="4" cols="40" onKeyDown="document.editform.[+maxigallery.fieldnames.modified+].value='yes'">[+maxigallery.picture.price:htmlent+]</textarea>
                    	<br />

                    and my gallery call is now this

                    [!MaxiGallery? &customFields=`price` &display=`embedded` &embedtype=`slidebox` &pics_per_row=`3` &max_thumb_size=`110` &max_pic_size=`0` &thumb_use_dropshadow=`0`!]

                    When I view the manage picture option in front end the new placeholder [+maxigallery.picture.price:htmlent+] is not outputting any data so I am missing something somewhere. As I understand Dozes post if a new form field is detected then it updates the database

                    Am i going in the right direction rolleyes, also thanks again for your help and as this is not quite going to plan would you prefere if I started a new topic under the maxigallery sub forum.

                    Thanks again

                    Ian

                      Hi Ian,

                      lets keep this here, otherwise it wll be crossposting, won t it.
                      Anyway my edit in the managepicturetpl.html is a bit different:

                      	<br>price
                      	[+maxigallery.strings.price+]:
                      	<br/>
                      	<input type="text" size="3" name="[+maxigallery.fieldnames.price+]" id="[+maxigallery.fieldnames.price+]" onKeyDown="document.editform.[+maxigallery.fieldnames.modified+].value='yes'" value="[+maxigallery.picture.price:htmlent+]"/>

                      And where do you not see output? On the manage picture page or in your "slideshow" page?
                      Try it and let me know, if that does not solve it you might ask someone to move this thread to the maxigallery one.

                      Frank.
