    I am sure that this has been posted a million times, i just cant find the anser I am looking for.

    I have just been appointed to "fix" a MODx website. I have jumped through the hoops and fixed all that they wanted, then like a tool I drew their attention to the fact the file manager wasnt working........

    So the problem is;

    --The box is a *nix, apache 2.0, php 5.2.4
    --I have the root path set to /var/www/sterling/assets/
    --I have tried /assets/ at both 777 and 774
    --GD Lib is as follows;
    GD Support enabled
    GD Version 2.0 or higher
    FreeType Support enabled
    FreeType Linkage with freetype
    FreeType Version 2.3.5
    T1Lib Support enabled
    GIF Read Support enabled
    GIF Create Support enabled
    JPG Support enabled
    PNG Support enabled
    WBMP Support enabled

    I dont know what I have done wrong............

    I thank you in anticipation of your understanding and kindness.

    Cheers
    Shaun

      Confirm this:

      Reports -> System Info: View phpInfo()
      Look for include_path

      in Tools -> Configuration -> File Manager -> File Manager Path:
      you have this MINUS "manager/includes/"

          When everything else works and the file browsers doesn’t, it’s most often a path issue. Check tools | Configuration | File Manager | File Manager Path.

          It should be a path from the root to the MODx root like: home/usr/public_ftp/sitename/

            Thanks bobray,

            This is what I have done to confirm that my path is correct;

            1. I executed the phpinfo file and come up with [include_path /var/www/sterling/manager/includes/ ] from that I deduced the the root was /var/www/sterling/.
            2. I also validated this via the sftp connection that the client opened for me.

            I am getting no other config errors....

            My resource directory is /var/www/sterling/assets/
            My resource URL is assets/

            I have the resource browser enabled.

            Simply I am lost........ I have checked the configuration against other installs of modx I have running and it all seems correct.

            Again thanks in advance for any help.

            Cheers

              I’m about out of suggestions. Here are a few more things to try:

              1. Be sure there’s a slash on the end of the path.

              2. Try adding /assets/ to the end.

              3. Check the permissions on index.php in your MODx root. Try 777 and 755.

              4. Try changing the slashes to backslashes.

              5. See what $_SERVER[’DOCUMENT_ROOT’]; reports on a page in the front end.

              Hope this helps. smiley

                What, exactly, is the error? Does this site have mod_security and suhosin working? What are the permissions on the www and the sterling folder? Do you have the .htaccess file in the manager folder?

                  First I’ll answer bobray,

                  1. there definately is a "/" at the end of the path
                  2.tried that.....
                  3. Permission is 777 on index.php
                  4. I tried this even though i already checked to make sure it wasnt IIS
                  5. created a file doc_root.php with <?php ECHO $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"]; ?> created directory "test" then run this from a browser, returned " var/www/sterling ".

                  Im stumped!!

                  Thanks

                    Hi sottwell

                    suhosin = Patch 0.9.6.2
                    I dont believe that mod_security is installed.

                    The exact error is; Directory listing for:/ Access denied!

                    Thanks for all your efforts guys, if we keep chipping away I am sure I will get there......

                    Cheers

                      Sounds as if your DirectoryIndex is not index.php
