Newbie question - will a standard installation of MODx do this?

Hi,

We’re in the process of evaluating a number of CMS’s and just wanted to ask a few questions before digging in too much:

• We’d be looking to create ’listing based’ or ’directory style’ websites rather than brochure style sites. How suitable is MODx for this type of website? For instance, is it possible to create a page as a listing and add this to multiple parent categories? Or would an ecommerce addon be better for this scenario?
• We spotted this website in the showcase section and were wondering if the search options were standar in MODx or whether this is an addon or even bespoke work for the site? - http://www.npg.org.uk/

No doubt we’ll come back with some more queries but if some of you out there with MODx experience could help us with these first ones then that would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Konrad

Hello,

You can accomplish just about anything with MODx. The one thing to keep in mind with MODx is your applying it to your website your not applying your website to MODx.

Check out the showcase for some examples of what you can do (http://modxcms.com/learn/showcase/).

There’s quite a bit of discussion on this; I believe the search is a custom job. http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,32165.0.html
