I considering to evaluate Modx for our existing website. I need help picking the right version to evaluate. Here are the versions that I see available:
0.9.6.3
1.0.0 rc1
2.0.0 beta1
2.0.0 beta6
I am okay evaluating a beta version. Just want to make sure that I don’t pick an old or wrong version and then decide to go with another CMS.
One requirement is that the documentation has to be in sync. It is okay if the requirement is incomplete. However, it has to be synced up with the software.
My requirements could be summarized as follows:
- Have a search-able list of businesses/organizations on our current system.
- These organization would need delegated admin rights to their individual content areas.
- Need to provide content (blogs, etc.) for each of the organizations on our website. The content items need to be independent for each organization.
Please advise me which version should I try.
Thanks.

Hello,
There are two main versions Evolution and Revolution. You will find the most resources for Evolution (previously known as 0.9.6.3) so it’s a good starting point. The upcoming version Revolution is a total rewrite and much more powerful, but it lacks the same amount of resources as it’s still in beta.
I would suggest Evolution 1.0 RC1 if you want a decent starting point. There will be an upgrade path to Revolution 2.0 (currently Beta 1). If you want to see the latest and greatest Revolution is the place to look. I would suggest downloading the SVN for Revo tho as there have quite a few improvements not found in the beta.

Go with Evolution RC1. That’s your best bet if you want "documentation in sync", as Revolution is still in beta and therefore will not have completely synced documentation.
