Document I created in snippet not found by Wayfinder?

Hi guys...

Im creating a new document in a snippet by inserting directly into modx_site_content table.
The insert is going fine, however Wayfinder will not show the link on the front end until I first edit the document I have created in the backend manager?

Is something not getting set?

thanx

J

How about the "show in menu" field? In the database, it’s actually a negative - "hidemenu", and it has to be set to 0 in order to show in the menu. I’m not exactly sure what would happen if it were a null; does MySQL accept a null as 0 or if a query specified a 0 then it has to be set to 0?

I’m guessing here: does it have to do with site caching? If you are calling WF cached, then it will be refreshed when the page is refreshed, i.e. during editing. Would that be it?

I am with kongondo...sounds like a cache issue. Take a look at the code for NewsPublisher, I think that there is a method for clearing the cache that may help you.

Thanks guys, it was indeed a cacheing issue.
I found the code to clear the cache somewhere on the forums....

All working fine now....10% closer to my first serious MODx store

Glad you got it sorted. Is there a possibility to share with the community once you are done with the 10%?

Hi there,

I will indeed....i’ll share all 90% of it
Basically its my own take on kiwee commerce (Which I found excellent, but just had a nightmare to install)
- It’s also FAR simpler than Kiwee, and definitely not as advanced.

It uses a main container to hold categories/products (as kiweee does)
Attributes for products are simply TV’s, however the images attached to products are stored in a new table.

The categories/products are then accessed via Modules, as the MODx document tree does not lend itself well to looking after lists of products!
Its much easier to have a small module to allow inserts of products and images without having the trawl the MODx document tree.

Not sure I will be able to make a module of it, as it is "kind of" bespoke....but it would be a good starting point and could easily be adapted.
