    Hi,

I encounter a strange problem with a site : the pictures in "assets/images" and subfolders are not retrieved by MODx.

    I checked :
    - that the path to the picture is exact (including the case)
    - that all folders of the hierarchy have "read" permission for all users
and reloaded the site, server side and client side.
    But nothing improved.

I also observed that template variables with "Image" type permit to open FCKEditor pointing to the correct folder (assets/images), but this editor is then unable to display any subfolder or any image of "assets/images".

Even accessing the images directly from the browser adress bar is impossible.

I have other MODx sites that work perfectly.
What could be the cause of such problem ?

If you can’t even navigate directly to the images using a browser, e.g.
      http://www.yourdomain.com/assets/images/yourimage.jpg

Then MODx isn’t the problem. It’s probably permissions errors on your server. Can you check the log files? What OS is your server running?

I know Apache requires that the parent directories have correct permissions for the children to show, so if your assets or images folder isn’t readable, you’ll have a problem.

        Hi Everett,

Yes, I cannot navigate directly to the images and I also think it’s an Apache configuration problem.

I wrote to the problem the hosting company. Their servers are based on the Linux OS.

        Thanks.

The problem was du to the .htaccess file at the root of my site.

After I wrote the site locally, I forgot to rename it back to "ht.access" when transfering the files, which is equivalent to deleting the .htaccess file.

Now the pictures display in the frontend, but not in FCKEditor yet.
          Who can help ?

I observe that in FCKeditor, clicking the links on the top left does not open the subfolders of assets/images ...

            Any idea ?

What are the permissions and owner:group of your assets and images folders?

For both folders, the permissions are Read + Write + Execute/List (=7).
                The group permissions are Read + Execute/List (= 5).
The public permissions are Read + Exectute/List (=5).

I thought that the problem could occur if the thumbnails could not be written.
But even putting 777 permissions does not work.

Does your server have suhosin installed? That can often break the resource browser.
