Deleting the RSS folder, permission denied

We recently moved from a beta folder to live, however I cannot get rid of the following directory:

/www/beta/assets/cache/rss/

It always returns:
cannot remove `/home/deals2/www/beta//assets/cache/rss/473f87e41ffeb3b17300ae4cbe2fe54b’: Permission denied
cannot remove `/home/deals2/www/beta//assets/cache/rss/2552d997701d0d006f31cce7d173cba6’: Permission denied

I have tried:

* change the file permissions
* tried to delete the files via shell / SSH

But neither of these allow me to delete these files, or the folder.

How do I get around this issue and delete the folder?

We asked the host to remove the folder, and this is now resolved.

This folder is created by the PHP process and must be deleted through a PHP process (i.e. the MODx File Manager IOW) unless you are running suPHP or similar.
